TRACY HAYSON

As Managing Director and owner of Hayson Knell, Tracy provides strategic planning guidance, supporting key clients with her expertise and commitment to success. With over 20 years as a planning consultant, Tracy brings extensive experience in navigating complex planning processes and project management, helping clients achieve their goals. She is dedicated to ensuring the team at Hayson Knell are the best in the game!

HANNAH SURGEONER
PLANNING TEAM LEAD
With over four years at Hayson Knell, Hannah has become an essential leader, overseeing the planning team and delivering high-quality, strategic planning advice to our clients. Her background as an Environmental Monitoring Officer and Planner with Northland Regional Council, combined with her expertise in planning and science, equips her with a unique perspective that brings valuable insights to complex projects. Hannah’s work spans a wide range of areas, including preparing and managing resource consents, conducting feasibility assessments for development projects, hearing preparation and presentation of evidence and coordinating a diverse range of projects. Her depth of experience and commitment to excellence ensure that clients receive solutions tailored to their needs and objectives.

RUTH FEIST
PRINCIPAL PLANNER | MSoc.Sci
Ruth brings her experience as Senior Planner at Bay of Plenty Regional Council to our consultancy. In that role Ruth was responsible for policy development (water and land management, and urban development), spatial planning and submissions on legislative changes. Ruth’s work for Hayson Knell ranges from feasibility scoping for development projects, district council plan formulation and change processes, spatial planning projects and resource consent preparation.

LINDA STEWART
OFFICE MANAGER & EA TO MANAGING DIRECTOR
Linda joined Hayson Knell in 2008 as a project administrator and soon progressed to a project coordinator role. After a break away to hone her skills in building administration she re-joined the team as our office manager. Linda has her finger on the pulse and keeps our projects under control with her impressive organisational skills and knowledge of the industry.

SIMON CHILDS
SENIOR PLANNER | BSc (Hons), PGDL, MPLAN, Assoc. NZPI
Simon brings ten years of public and private planning experience in the UK, Australia and New Zealand to our consultancy. Simon joined us from a consent planning role at Tauranga City Council and has experience in resource management issues under a wide range of Regional and District Plans throughout the country. His work for Hayson Knell ranges from development feasibility, project management and coordination, and resource consent preparation and processing.

AIMEE PALMER
INTERMEDIATE PLANNER | BEP, Graduate NZPI
Aimee has joined us as an Intermediate Planner at Hayson Knell. Aimee is born and bred in Tauranga with a passion for her city and country in supporting clients through planning pathways. She brings with her over two years of experience in the planning profession whilst supporting emerging professionals within the industry with her networking groups. Aimee has consulted on matters regarding obtaining land use consents, subdivision and regional consents, and processing of resource consents for territorial authorities in the Waikato region. Her work for Hayson Knell ranges from development feasibility, project management and coordination, and resource consent preparation and processing.

AMIEA MACRAE-STEED
PLANNING INTERN | Student NZPI
Amiea joined Hayson Knell as a Planning Intern at the end of 2023 and is currently studying Resource and Environmental Planning at Massey University with a minor in Māori studies. She provides valuable support to the team across a wide range of tasks, including administration, research, resource consent preparation, and processing, stepping in wherever additional assistance is needed.

DANIELLE WEBBER
PLANNING TECHNICIAN
Danielle provides technical and administrative support to our consultant team and clients. Danielle came to us from Auckland Council where she worked as a Weather Tightness and Compliance Coordinator. She brings her extensive experience in communication and document management to our consultancy.

LAURA MARRA
SENIOR PLANNER | BAppSc (Hons) Assoc.NZPI
Laura brings her experience as Lead Environmental Advisor for Trustpower to our consultancy. In that role Laura was responsible for managing the company’s involvement in RMA planning processes throughout New Zealand, advising on legislation changes, and providing input to a range of projects including consenting, development project management and submissions to district plan changes. Her work for Hayson Knell encompasses a wide range of resource management including resource consents, policy planning, project coordination and research.
